- Paywalled. But sociology was a suspect field even 20 years ago. It always felt less rigorous compared to other humanities, because the content and ideas felt activist and because those teaching it (professors) were biased, always trying to prove their political views rather than treating the field like a science. And of course, most people who study sociology don’t end up in that field because we don’t need that many sociologists in society.
I feel like a more generic degree of humanities would work better. When you have fields that are very focused, they tend to have a lot of preset ideas.
