  • Healthcare research.. a way for Big Pharma to extract more cash from hapless citizens..
  • A single source article where the “source” is just a URL!

Would’ve been nice to see a few quotes. Come on, Ars!

  • Your comment is factually wrong.

There are at least 3 sources to this article.

1 is the proximate opinion piece that you’ve linked to.

There’s also a link to a letter signed by 30 lawmakers and excerpts from that latter.

Then there’s a link to previous Ars coverage which discusses a different study altogether.

  • i mean if they blasted him then all is ok
  • What more do you expect them to do? Hire a hit man, storm the Capitol, send someone with a rubber mask to impersonate RFK Jr? (OK, the way he looks, that last one...)
  • How on earth are citizens of the USA putting up with this. Don’t they realize how utterly moronic this administration is? The list with embarrassing failures is so long now, it boggles my mind. The fact that the streets are empty makes everyone complicit, not just those that drank the Koolaid.
  • We know and hate everything about it but are individually powerless to affect change. The game is rigged.

It is a significant emotional drain to keep watch of the state of things, but I can't look away.

  • Does not take a scientist to know Trump's admin handed the US Lead in all Medical Research to China over the last 2 years.

So since the US lost the lead in Medical Research, time to end Obamacare by destroying funding and firing federal workers that are involved with the nation's health.

  • "During Trump’s second term, DOGE cuts led to the firing or retirement of an estimated 75% of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality staff".

The damage done is deep and cuts to the bone.

    > Pharma does not fund research [that does not pay back]

Fortunately we have public research. Public and private research are totally different beasts in nature. Most of the science done in the planet is public (and underfunded or free), and can explore where pharma does not dare to enter.

Ironically, most MAGA are on the group with higher risk to die for lack of the public healthcare research that they still refuse to fund. They put their lives and hopes on the private research, unaware that most of them will not be able to afford it.

  • Which of the 2 totally different beasts are the "Public-Private Partnerships" like Fauci NIH funded, to give one example?

It's definitely true that public research is underfunded. It would also need better leadership for more funding to matter.

Who cares about people that trust research because it has "public" or "private" label?

  • Setting Hanlon's razor aside, at some point, you have to consider the other possibility; That it is malice, and that the destruction is intentional and serves the goals of other other parties.
  • Sometimes, a tiny drop of malice could explain oceans of assumed incompetence

    (Occam's razor beats Hanlon's razor)
