  • stupid question: why dont they put a 100 billion dollars and invent a new AI native GPU that is neither AMD nor Nvidia
  • Feels telling that there is a €20m budget for a certification program (very EU, but also surprising this isn't ironed out yet), and the largest single funding I can see at €24m is QKD and to prevent sovereign eavesdropping detection tech.

I feel as though quantum is just starting to get to the point of interesting but is still too early for me to get excited about as having practical application within my career time frame (I expect to be retired in ~15 years).

That must be a world speed record of saying a computer is located in U.S. (cloud) :>>

And have mandatory access via HTTP.

They in that EU-something must have some serious mental loop in HTTP form...

    Edit 1: formatting

Edit 2: actually whole announcement have null-sense. Imagine something like: we want one cpu of "full stack" (?) amd128 with 1k+ registers and connectivity to classic HPC systems and accessible via cloud(s)...

So they want quantum accelerator used by few HPC computers and it must have remote UI. So HTTP browswer or nothing.

Also it must be accelerator that have programmable registers in classic style. So no quantum algos not even graphics card like paralleism...

They must know quantum tech better then HN articles present it or it is yet another "full stack" EU-style scam - maybe something minor will be delivered but so many people will get paid on the way.

  • Naive question: Why pile so much public money into quantum computing where there are (afaik) barely any useful algorithms, while Europe could instead invest in catching up on GPU infrastructure where there are plenty of known useful and capacity constrained use cases in academia and beyond?
