A nice reminder to keep passwords offline.
by windward - Don't they keep a local copy like Bitwarden does?by lillesvin
- Last thing I saw before my Proton Mail stopped responding was the "how are we doing?" survey modal, which I dismissed because I just wanted to get to my email.
Hope it's nothing too bad.
by lillesvin - How is it the browser extension doesn't have a local cache? It seems like basic functionality. I'm having to copy passwords by hand from the mobile app, which does have a local cache.
Anyway, it's a good reminder: self-host all the things!
by gradstudent - It does have a local cache. It's a setting by the way called "Pass offline mode - enabled."
And it's enabled by default.
by DavideNL - Mine does. I am able to login to the browser extension with my password and see all my passwords. I think there was a setting to enable local caching somewhere.by bsoles
- I’m paying for Proton enterprise and it is not demonstrating any value over the major providers as of late.
- I can't access anything right now. Blocked from my files in Proton Drive. No emails. Nothing. Can't work at all.by abnercoimbre

- Why does a cooling failure in one datacenter brick the entire ecosystem? Reliability 101 to have redundancy here I'd think...by jshandling
- > We are currently in the process of shifting traffic to our backups sites
Manually?!
by jshandling - I have to admit, this one has pissed me right off. I build systems that survive datacentre failures all the fucking time, it's inexcusable that a single site going dark removes access to something I pay like 200 euro a year for.by cyberpunk
- Same issue today? Been down for a few hours.
> We are currently dealing with residual hardware failures that are likely related to the damage suffered from the overheating incident last week. At the moment we are operating at a reduced capacity, while our engineers work to bring additional infrastructure online. We apologize for the unfortunate timing of this incident and any disruption or inconvenience this may have caused you. > Sep 01, 2026 - 16:42 CEST
