  • Great work. But when I slide the slider, it looks like there is not much content. Some places never have anything. Are you planning to add more?
  • That's exactly what every American should read, because most people don't learn that in school—since the curriculum focuses only on the U.S.
  • Youre missing Christianity, Islam etc.
  • And the island of Guam is not clickable / visible in landscape mode on the phone.
  • Really interesting to see how many cosmogonies proceed in stages, with the sea at the beginning of creation, and animals/plants/mankind appearing later.

Thanks to science we know it's more or less what happened (plus evolution) but it's nice to see how pre-scientific intuition somewhat worked it out.

  • I went through the "myth in human history" class/book from The Great Courses some years ago (great course!), iirc it mentioned a few common themes of creation myths: cosmic egg, emergence from depths, divine parents, ex nihilo, and "retrieval from the sea bottom".

I think any relation to actual science is accidental.

  • Norse Scandinavia must include Iceland. In particular when referencing Prose Edda.
  • “…map of the known stories…”

It’s unfortunate, but we have permanently lost way more stories and are losing them at catastrophic rates today as technology and globalism eradicate local and indigenous cultures and languages/dialects.

  • Where I am, a cultural shift in the 90's [television!], created a 'more common' language from one end of the country to another. Dialects are dying, accents are being smoothed out: a country with character is becoming very bland.
  • I think projects like this--feeding a bunch of incomplete information into AI and making a glossy-but-shallow output--do more harm than good.

How stories and created and shared and transmitted is a vast and complex field, something well worth diving into and addressing properly. Reducing that to a single output made without care presents beautiful richness as a solved and simple detail.
