  • Sort of. This is not a production car in any meaningful sense of that term. They'll make a handful of them to sell, just to say they did. But it sure seems like the actual mass-production Roadster they've teased for years is dead.
  • No way this is going to be street legal but I want one.
  • This is a completely different car from the one that was announced a decade ago and never shipped. And they spent all that time showing off the fact that it can act like a stunt car if you buy the non-street-legal, available-by-invite-only version.

Tesla is an unserious car company, led (for some reason) by a person who supports 1) the destruction of incentives to buy EVs, and 2) the destruction of the climate more generally. I hope the people putting money down on this farce lose it all.

McMurtry says the hard part isn't the suction, really, it's making the skirt work across a variety of road conditions, so you don't lose cornering ability when you need it most. That track Tesla built was very smooth. It's possible they can do what they showed, and not be able to do the same on a regular road.

  • Wow, this is the most impressive car I've ever seen. 0-60 in less than 1 sec. It flew in the air! It can suck itself to the road and make insane turns. wow oh wow
